Energy Storage Webinar: Energy Storage Technology Advancement Partnership (ESTAP) Opportunity

Friday, March 25, 2011 @ 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

This webinar introduces the Energy Storage Technology Advancement Partnership (ESTAP). ESTAP is modeled after the current CESA Marine Energy Technology Advancement Partnership (METAP). Through this project, CESA will establish and facilitate a multi-state/federal collaborative initiative to advance cooperation and cost-share contributions to demonstration projects by states, DOE, and private industry to accelerate energy storage project deployment in the U.S. For the purposes of this project, energy storage technologies include batteries, flywheels, thermal storage, above-ground compressed air, and micro pumped hydro. Details on solicitations and funding requirements will be determined as the project progresses, pending availability of DOE funds and emergence of viable projects through competitive solicitation.

Dr. Imre Gyuk, Energy Storage Systems Program Manager at DOE, presented on energy storage technologies and applications, as well as DOE’s goals for the ESTAP project, and answered questions from participants.
