Energy Affordability in the Face of Data Center Load Growth
Thursday, October 29, 2026 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
Many Americans are facing skyrocketing utility bills due to data center-driven load growth, aging infrastructure, and the grid’s continued reliance on expensive fossil fuels. But these challenges provide an opportunity to limit utility bill impacts for the most vulnerable communities and correct structural injustices.
In this Clean Energy Group webinar, speakers from Rewiring America will go over a set of policies that state policymakers and regulators can pursue to make whole-home electrification, rooftop solar, and battery storage affordable for 96 percent of eligible households, while meeting rising demand from large loads such as data centers. These policies follow three strategies, including removing barriers to electrification, recognizing households as grid assets, and driving energy investment towards households. The presentation will share key findings from Rewiring America’s report, Homegrown Energy: A policy blueprint for energy affordability, while providing additional updates since the report’s publication.
