Matt Ohloff

Project Manager for Solar Equity

Matt Ohloff (he/him) is the Project Manager for Solar Equity for Clean Energy States Alliance. In this role, he supports the Solar with Justice project, the Scaling Up Solar for Under-Resourced Communities project, and the National Community Solar Partnership for CESA.

He is an experienced organizer with over 15 years’ experience working in Iowa for several organizations with both a statewide and national presence, including Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, Food & Water Watch, and the Iowa Environmental Council. Prior to joining CESA, he was Clean Communities Manager for the Iowa Environmental Council where he worked with communities to advocate for and implement an equitable transition to 24/7 carbon-free electricity. From 2016 to 2020, he was Climate Justice Organizer for Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, with responsibility for developing and managing that organization’s climate justice program.

He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Iowa and a Master's in Public Administration at Drake University. He lives with his partner and their cat in Des Moines, IA. Matt was a hip-hop and house DJ in the 2000's and 2010's outside of his full-time organizing and advocacy work but he is currently in "retirement" as a DJ. In his free time, he enjoys working in his yard and garden, reading, watching the New York Rangers, and searching for hard-to-find vinyl records.
