45V Clean Hydrogen Production Tax Credit: A Windfall for the Fossil Fuel Industry?
Wednesday, March 26, 2025 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
The U.S. Treasury Department released final guidance on the 45V Clean Hydrogen Production Tax Credit in January 2025. While the guidance did contain the vital “three pillars” of incrementality, temporal matching, and deliverability, which are essential for ensuring hydrogen production does not lead to a massive increase in grid emissions, it also contains several concessions to industry lobbying that have the potential to jeopardize emissions reductions. (For more information about the 45V Production Tax Credit, read a new fact sheet from Clean Energy Group here.)
In this webinar, panelists will discuss some of the more concerning loopholes around biomethane use for hydrogen production, gaps in the emissions accounting method used for 45V, and the impact of this final guidance on the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs. Speakers will also discuss potential future changes to the 45V credit.
