Equity Strategies for LA’s 100% Clean Energy Transition

Thursday, May 2, 2024 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET

The 2021 LA100 study revealed that, even though all communities in Los Angeles will share in the environmental and air quality benefits of the clean energy transition, intentionally designed policies and programs are needed to improve equity in participation and outcomes.

To answer this call, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power partnered with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to lead the LA100 Equity Strategies project in collaboration with the University of California Los Angeles. NREL gathered strategies and solutions from underserved community members and community-based organizations and modeled future scenarios to identify strategies for LADWP to improve equity for disadvantaged communities, incorporating what community members themselves feel is needed to achieve more equitable outcomes. The LA100 Equity Strategies project provides community-guided, data-driven strategies for increasing equity in LA’s transition to 100% clean energy. Most of the findings and methodologies are relevant to states with similar goals.

In this webinar hosted by the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA), panelists from NREL and LADWP discussed their findings across buildings, solar, transportation electrification, air quality, and the distribution grid.
