Should There Be a Clean Peak Standard?

Tuesday, May 9, 2017 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Both Arizona and California are considering whether to establish a Clean Peak Standard. It would require a certain percent of delivered electricity during a predetermined peak period to come from specified clean resources. The goal would be to continue to expand clean energy generation while reducing electricity costs and making it easier to meet peak demand.

In this webinar, Lon Huber, Senior Director at Strategen Consulting, discussed the Clean Peak Standard concept and how it might be implemented. He was one of the two authors of a paper for Arizona’s Residential Utility Consumer Office, “Evolving the RPS: A Clean Peak Standard for a Smarter Renewable Future.”

This webinar was presented by the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) for the RPS Collaborative.
