CleanEdge has recentlly released is “Clean Energy Trends 2012” report. This publically available report is the 11th annual edition and includes current and projected growth forecasts for solar PV, wind, and biofuels as well as detailed analysis of solar PV pricing, clean -tech public market activity, venture capital investments, and five major trends to watch in 2012 and beyond. CESA will host a webinar for its members and clean energy colleagues to hear from one of the reports lead authors on the state of clean energy markets as part of our ongoing support of clean-energy technologies and markets.

SSTI Webinar: Clean, Green and Local: Why States Are Taking the Lead in Cleantech

Though many states have implemented programs to boost the use of clean energy technologies, only a handful have fully leveraged the potential of energy policy to support their state’s innovation system. The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation’s (ITIF) Matthew Stepp, Mark Muro of the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings and Lewis Milford of the Clean Energy Group will explore ways that the technology-based economic development (TBED) community can better leverage cleantech policy and programs to spur greater innovation, economic development and industry expansion. We will also take a look at the role that states and regions play in the clean energy economy and how some have used clean energy funds to support research, tech commercialization and the creation of new companies.

Solar Thermal Trends, Performance-Based Incentives, and RPS

This webinar will feature three presentations looking at solar thermal from different vantage points. Les Nelson of the International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials will summarize market and costs trends for solar thermal technologies. James Critchfield will discuss US EPA’s initiative to work with stakeholders to create a US Heat Meter Standard, which will set requirements for the instrumentation and application of equipment used to measure the energy generation of thermal energy systems. Sam Watson of the North Carolina Utilities Commission will describe his state’s experiences with including solar thermal in its RPS, and will provide lessons learned.

RPS Webinar: Updates from Massachusetts and Arizona

The State-Federal RPS Collaborative is beginning a series of periodic webinars in which RPS administrators report on the current status of their RPS and describe recent developments. This month’s webinar will provide updates on the RPS programs and activities in Arizona and Massachusetts. The focus will be on program elements and developments that may be of interest to other states. The second half of the webinar will provide audience members with an opportunity for questions and discussion. Similar webinars on other states will be held every few months. In the intervening months, other types of webinars will be offered.

This webinar gives special attention to California’s Renewable Auction Mechanism.

Energy Storage Webinar: Federal Regulatory Energy Storage Policy

In this webinar, we will review the federal regulatory landscape for energy storage, specifically FERC Order 755, FERC Order 890 (which directs ISOs/RTOs to develop tariffs, market rules, and control algorithms and to open markets for new technologies that provide ancillary services), and other aspects of FERC treatment of energy storage and how these affect ISOs, energy storage device owners, and energy storage technology manufacturers.

RPS Webinar: Energy Storage and Renewable Portfolio Standards

This webinar will explore the role of energy storage in state RPS, including facilitating the integration of an increasingly higher penetration of renewables and the interpretation of energy storage as a generation resource. We will review and highlight examples of state RPS that include energy storage while exploring the benefits of energy storage to an RPS portfolio and the challenges for integrating storage into new and existing RPS programs.
