Webinar & Events - Expanding Solar Opportunity
Expanding Solar Market Participation and Consumer Confidence: Two Award-Winning Programs by the Illinois Power Agency
The Illinois Power Agency (IPA) is working to build a solar market that is diverse, inclusive, and low risk. IPA’s solar initiatives were recently recognized with two State Leadership in Clean Energy Awards based on their leadership, innovation, cost-effectiveness, and replicability. In this CESA webinar, speakers from IPA will present their award-winning programs. The Illinois…
Plug-In Solar: What States Need to Know
A new CESA report discusses various plug-in solar configurations and how they interact with regulatory issues. In this CESA webinar for state officials, report author Ben Paulos presents clear, plain-English information about plug-in solar technology and policy issues for state energy agencies and their legislative counterparts.
Meaningful Household Savings from Solar
In this DOE-organized webinar, CESA Executive Director Warren Leon and Senior Project Director for Solar and Offshore Wind Vero Bourg-Meyer will discuss best practices for meaningful household savings from solar, gaps in the literature on solar savings, and what will be needed to scale up best practices.
This webinar dove into a pioneering multifamily solar project in Jackson, Mississippi that implemented an innovative technology solution to provide direct benefits to apartment residents who have historically been left out of the clean energy transition.
Collaboration between Community-Based Organizations and State Energy Agencies: Findings and Lessons from the Solar with Justice Project
This CESA webinar covers a series of reports released by CESA and MIT in August based on a nationwide survey of community-based organizations. Report authors review key findings and lessons learned from the studies.
Tribal-State Collaboration on Sustainability and Solar Development: A Case Study of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe
In this CESA webinar, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe’s Eugene Strowbridge provided an overview of a forthcoming case study exploring the Tribal-State relationship through the experiences of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, which began developing its Sustainability Program in 2014.
Using Community Solar to Cut Energy Burdens in Manufactured Mobile Home Communities
Manufactured homes (aka “mobile” homes) are an important form of affordable housing for low- and moderate-income (LMI) households. But they can often be energy-inefficient and difficult to weatherize, resulting in high energy bills and energy burdens. In this CESA webinar, speakers discussed Berkeley Lab’s report that proposes combining community solar subscriptions with air-source heat pump installations and managing bill credits to reduce winter heating bills.
In this webinar, guest speakers from Energy Allies and the Boston Community Solar Cooperative (BCSC) will discuss their adaptable model for community-led solar. The BCSC grew out of a grassroots coalition of individuals, businesses and nonprofits organizing for an equitable transition to a clean energy economy in Boston’s Environmental Justice Communities. Energy Allies supported the formation of BCSC as a community-led, community-benefiting organization.
Department of Energy, Equitable Solar Communities of Practice Community Convening: Resilience, Storage, and Grid Benefits
Many joined CEG for an interactive 2-hour session exploring the best practices, opportunities, and obstacles in advancing resilient power – solar PV paired with battery storage (solar+storage) – in historically marginalized communities.
Washington, DC’s Solar for All program is a rooftop and community solar program aiming to benefit over 100,000 households with incomes at or below 80% of area median income. This webinar profiled the program and the ways its administrators have handled outreach and consumer education over the program’s seven-year history.
